Tohora/Whale -Small

The ocean is a very significant part of Maori culture and history. Our ancestors voyaged to Aotearoa/New Zealand over the Te Moana Nui a Kiwa (Pacific ocean) many centuries ago. The Tohora/Whale was one of many guardians that protected Maori on their voyage across the ocean. Any symbol to do with the ocean and all forms of water always holds great significance to Maori and many other cultures around the world.
